Package Planet
Package Planet was created as part of the March Mini Jam in 2020, the theme was ‘Islands’.
This was my first ever game jam and the first time I’ve used version control.
Around the time this game jam occurred, Death Stranding released a few months before on consoles, so we joked about creating the first ‘strand-like’ game on PC. At the time, a relatively simple delivery game seemed reasonable for a 2 day jam!
Overall, this jam was a success! The game itself is playable on my Itch.io if you’re interested.
Project Overview
Project Info
In Package Planet, the goal is to make money and purchase rewards at certain milestones.
The primary milestone is to buy an air filter to remove the toxic gas from the atmosphere, with a secondary more expensive milestone in joining the ‘Gold Gang’ (it makes the giant rock in the middle golden).
Packages themselves have different costs and weights and need to be delivered to their respective destinations. If you get too heavy, it will be hard to navigate without purchasing ziplines or balloons to manage your weight.
My Responsibilities
Designed gameplay loop.
Designed level, placing all assets, shops, destinations, objectives in the world.
Worked on the character and zipline blueprints.
Created the skybox and particle effects.
Emergent Gameplay
After completing the project, a group of friends and other players found it enjoyable to record and time our attempts to reach the games milestones. Effectively speed running the game, it was quite a fun back & fourth and wasn’t something we planned for during development.
It’s likely that the games open nature allowed for players to find different strategies (and some bugs to abuse) to have some fun in such a format.

The player can navigate to four different delivery sites. Giving the player the opportunity to discover the most efficient method of delivering through experimentation.
An example of the player navigating islands by placing ziplines to skip over the more difficult terrain. If you carry too much weight it might become impossible to complete deliveries so these connections are crucial!
